Brenda Ann Perry Gates Shippy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away at her home in Sandhollow, Idaho on July 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on April 22, 1961, in Boise, Idaho, to Clyde and Martha Perry, Brenda was one of ten children and spent her life rooted in family and faith. She married her first love and high school sweetheart, Chuck Gates on January 5, 1979. Together they built a beautiful life, raising their two children and sharing 33 wonderful years of marriage before Chuck’s passing.
Brenda was blessed to find love again and married Jay Shippy on March 4, 2013. Their marriage brought renewed happiness, shared adventures, and a blended family that she embraced with open arms and a full heart.
Brenda had a deep love for the outdoors and traveling. She especially enjoyed camping trips in the mountains and four-wheeling through rugged trails. She had a passion for quilting and would often bring her sewing machine to camp during hunting season to keep working on her many quilting projects. She was always eager to share her quilting skills, guiding others through their own projects. Her quilts were not just crafts-they were gifts of love, each sewn with intention and care.
Above all else, Brenda was a caregiver. She devoted her life to her family and was always ready to help anyone in need. She never hesitated to help care for the sick, whether it was staying up through the night, offering comfort, or simply showing up when needed. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she especially treasured time spent with them.
Brenda was a member of the Followers of Christ church and remained strong in her faith throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jay Shippy; her daughter Tarra (Tom) Mossi; her son Chad (Ryan) Gates; and her cherished grandchildren: Cole (Marisa), Dillon, and Lucas Mossi, and Coraline and Charlize Gates. Brenda is also survived by the children she lovingly gained through her marriage to Jay, along with their spouses and families, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren she welcomed and cared for as her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Martha Perry, and her first husband, Chuck Gates.
Brenda was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
