Reece was much loved before his parents even met him. He was a miracle from the start…his twin was lost in utero so there was a high chance he would be too. Reece was born with Down syndrome and Hirschsprung’s at 37 weeks and faced many challenges due to the latter including his first surgery at 2 days old. The very skilled pediatric surgeon Dr. Elaine Reynolds promised to bring him back to us and she did each time she worked her magic and made his life better. He loved our dogs but the GSP were a bit much for him with his limited mobility and then we met Max a Smooth Fox Terrier and Reece immediately reached for him and was excited to see him each time Lesli Smith brought him close. Reece’s very own Smooth Fox joined us as soon as possible after. They adored each other and Rigel has been a constant comfort to us while we process this. Reece loved Batman and would argue about his batman blanket or pillow being taken to be washed. As we say goodbye to Reece on Tuesday June 24 please join us in celebrating him by wearing anything Batman or the colors black and yellow.
