Arline A. Eidam

Mom passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of July 7th. She was born in Boise to Cliff and Lena Snyder. She grew up with her older brother Bob, enjoying all that small town Boise had to offer. After graduating Boise High School she enrolled at the University of Idaho where she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Although claiming a casual interest in sports, she was actually captivated by the quarterback of the football team, George. They eventually married and enjoyed a lifelong loving partnership.

Mom lived the life of a military wife during the early years of marriage, while Dad served in the U.S. Air Force. They lived in Texas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and returned to Boise where they raised five children.

Mom had a loving and infectious personality. Her heart and home were always open to the neighborhood children. All were welcome without judgment. She also opened the doors of our home every year to members of Up With People, an international group of students tratravelingvelling and entertaining the world with song and dance.

Cooking and entertaining were her passion, and she was exceptional at both. During the holidays, her favorite time of the year, she would spend countless hours in the kitchen preparing elaborate and delicious meals. It was her sanctuary where she could add her own special sauce for culinary enjoyment, and also bring her family together with the many guests she liked to invite into the warmth of her home.

In addition to being a “Mom”, she found refuge in volunteering for the Junior League, working in the box office at the Morrison Center and hunting for precious antiques and dishes. She enjoyed playing Bridge at Hillcrest and rarely missed the weekly “coffee club” with her friends. She rarely stood still, but always made the time to enjoy her friends and family, while making new friends along the way.

Every summer Mom could be found at the family cabin in McCall basking in the sun, pulling water skiers behind the boat, and spending time in the kitchen (again) chatting light heartedly about some of life’s challenges. Mom was adored by many and will be missed dearly.

Mom was preceded in death by her daughter, Michele, son Dan, and husband George. She is survived by her children, Brad (Sarah), John (Jodi), and James, all of Boise. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Samantha, Nicholas, Deryk, Kendra, Emerson, Ellie, Alex, and Hailey; and three great grandchildren, Cutter, Dannin, and Owen.

A rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 19th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 811 S. Latah St, Boise, to be followed immediately by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., also at Sacred Heart. Services are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.

The family thanks the staffs at Barber Station Assisted Living and Idaho Home Health & Hospice for the care and support they provided Mom during the last days and weeks of her life.
