Annette Breyen

Annette Breyen, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was 97 years old.

She was born on June 19, 1928 and raised in Boise, Idaho. She graduated Boise High in 1946. She played violin in the Boise High Orchestra.

During her high school years Annette worked at four movie theaters as an usherette where her future husband was a doorman. Annete married Birger Breyen on her 19th birthday on June 19, 1947. They were married 38 years. He passed away in 1983.

She was a member for 65 years at First United Presbyterian Church. After graduation she worked at the State House in the Dept. of Education. She was a member of Professional Secretaries International (PSI) and later Retired Educators Association (REA). She worked 22 years at Idaho Transportation Dept.

Also after retirement Annette traveled the U.S. She was a member of Sagebrush Quilters. She gave several talks on quilts used during the Civil War. She volunteered at the Family Advocate Center, ushered at the Morris Center, and worked at the Hobby Horse.

Later, she became buyer/manager of the Idaho Historical Museum and the Old Idaho Penitentiary giftshops for ten years. She opened her own business called “Annette’s Country Store” selling gift items she sewed at the Ford Nampa Center, the Boise Fairgrounds, and in her home for over 20 years.

She is survived by her daughter Stacia Halsted; her son Eddy Breyen; two grandchildren, Cherine Schneider (Ron) and Chris Halsted (Collyn); two great grandchildren Paige and Emma Halsted.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery.
