Amy Barker

Amy Lynn Barker born August 18, 1975 to LeRoy and Ann Barker and raised in Chico, California, died July 31, 2015. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree from BSU and a Master’s degree from Antioch in Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her wonderful companion dog, Charlie. Amy was a gifted person. Her perfect pitch could drive a piano tunest crazy. Amy’s intelligence and humor were her greatest traits. She had two great cats, Weezer and Chichi, who were her soul mates that she saved and raised at 10 days old. She enjoyed hiking, biking (Amy Barker Tri-fectas were the bomb), going to cabin, music (annual Yule mixes will be missed), good beer, Battlestar Galactic, brunch with friends, and any British films. Amy worked at Simplot Agri-business. She loved her job and the people she worked with. Amy and her boss Rob Mitchell put together a successful business model that grew the seed business for the last several years. Amy had a zest for life but Triple Negative Breast Cancer change this healthy woman’s course. Amy fought bravely and with great pride. Amy saw Shannon, her wife, in a hallway in 2002 and it was the relationship she was addicted to for the next 14 years. They were an active couple enjoying travel, Owyhee adventures, and great BBQ. She is survived by her wife, Shannon Rush; her parents, LeRoy and Ann Barker; two brothers and two sisters, many nieces, nephews and cousins. No funeral will take place as Amy enjoyed a ‘no’ funeral party with family and friends to say her goodbyes to all she cared about and loved prior to her death. She will be greatly missed and loved by those whose life she touched. Amy would encourage every one to check their boobs as this disease does not discriminate. Donations can be made to Triple Negative Breast Cancer Research. The world lost a great lady. So say we all!
